A Day in London

First the merry band fuels up with coffee and "bacon butties" (don't ask, I didn't eat one) at the Warrick train station; Mark on left Steve on right (the only way I could get these two in a photo was to take it before they noticed).

Then off to London (1.5 hours) and the Goring Hotel for meetings. Normal enough posh hotel on the outside:

...but inside a little "different." Is that a sheep under the piano? Sure is, buddy! Not a real one at least.

The Duke of Westminster looks on in mild amusement!

After meetings, taxi to Paddington, train to Heathrow, bus to hotel... sheesh. Now in last hotel of this over-long trip, plane flight tomorrow and home! See ya later London!

The RSC

Since the Royal Shakespeare Company is on break, no plays for me, in this most distinguished of theater cities. But a photo anyway of the building itself (not too close up due to repairs carried on under scaffolding!), past the canal boats and flowers. This is the center of the city.

Centuries-old houses

Typical Stratford street front... not a right angle in the whole building!

More from Stratford

The Evil Cat. Dinner last night at my host, Steve Parker (and with his wife, Allie). Here is Evil Cat. Very old and stiff, etc. Bit Allie yesterday, she had to get a shot! Day before, taken to the groomer's: won't allow combing without being sedated first! ($150 job to be groomed!) Evil Cat! But Allie loves him. Steve is trying to figure out a way to send EC on a long road trip....

Shakespeare Obligations

The RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) is closed this week so no plays for me, but since we are at Willy's home, here is a statue of Hamlet staring at poor Yorick's skull. Yorick, a fellow of infinite jest...

One for Ida

Yes, imagine it: a floating hut! Not sure if it is used for cello practice...

Porsche sighting!

This one is for Ian. Well, it was dark, late at night, a bad cameraphone, and frankly the car doesn't look so hot in person, but... first-ever Porsche Panamera viewing! What do ya think? Myself, not impressed.
